Process, then Project…
After a week of family and holiday commitments, I couldn’t wait to do my usual, determined walk in solitude this morning. Just me and the dog.
I was gutted when the alone time that I was so intensely wanting was met with a bit more of internal struggle, the spring in my step replaced with a pointless, wearisome pace. It’s funny how, especially in the yoga world, we’re forced to end the year with hopes and dreams on the ready.
Part of me wondered how I was pursuing a spiritual life, when the spirit in me felt completely dampened down?
It wasn’t until I stopped trying to figure out why, or who, or how, that I started feeling the earth beneath my feet again. And it reminded of something really important in our quest to ring in the new year with excellent intentions and goals to motivate us:
We have to process.
I’m not saying dwell in the past and dig up all the pains and hurts. And I’m definitely not advising you look back on your year and bring in the inner judge who proclaims success or failure, good or bad.
But give yourself some time to be quiet and feel what comes up. As much as I’m into guided journaling and structure, maybe it’s healing to end the year with a trust that less is more.
That feeling it and sitting with, is enough, if it feels safe for you.
So before you get your journal out, ready to manifest your dreams for 2023, don’t forget to process the year that was.
Thank you all for allowing me to connect with you in some way this year, whether that’s through mentoring together, in class, online, or even an insta message. Community and supporting one another is important.
Here’s to bringing meaning and healing into our precious lives.
Much love,
Leanne
